The Public Enterprise “Urbanizam”, the Urban and Spatial Planning Institute of Novi Sad, as part of its main business activity, performs expert tasks in the field of urban and spatial planning in the territory of Novi Sad.  Numerous activities of the enterprise include the creation of the spatial plan for the city of Novi Sad, municipal spatial plans and special purpose area spatial plans, the creation of urban plans for the territory of the city of Novi Sad, site plans and subdivision plans.

In addition, the Urban and Spatial Planning Institute monitors and examines peculiarities and changes related to space in the territory of Novi Sad and it undertakes strategic assessments of impacts that plans have on the environment. The Institute also collects, manages, processes, stores and publishes data relevant for spatial and urban planning and delivers them to the city authorities for the purpose of the local information system for storing planning documents and data on current spatial conditions. Moreover, the Urban and Spatial Planning Institute conducts surveying operations in the engineering and technical field of urban and spatial planning.

The Urban and Spatial Planning Institute of Novi Sad was founded in 1960 with the aim of urban planning of the construction and development of Novi Sad and the surrounding towns and villages. The Public Enterprise “Urbanizam” is licensed by the Ministry of Construction of the Republic of Serbia for performing urban planning activities that are of general interest, creating urban plans, examining the zoning and technical requirements and issuing zoning permits demonstrating the harmonization of designs with the set terms for spatial planning.

The company is a member of the Serbian Town Planners Association, the Vojvodina Town Planners Association, and the International Federation for Housing and Planning – IFHP.
